Your First Massage

The day of your Massage:

It is recommended to hydrate your body with lots of water before your Massage. You should be clean and not under the influence of alcohol or other non-medicinal drugs. It is also recommended to not eat a large meal right before your Massage.

You will need to fill out the necessary intake forms prior to your massage beginning.

Arrival:

When the Massage Therapist arrives the massage table will be immediately set up and your appointment time will begin after set up is completed (only if the area is already available for set up when the Massage Therapist arrives).

Before the Massage:

The massage room/area will have relaxing music playing and a comfortable, heated massage table dressed with clean sheets and a clean blanket. I will review your intake form and I may ask additional questions that will help me provide you with best possible massage. I will explain the massage table to you and then based on your needs, I will tell you whether to lay on the table face up or face down. I will tell you that you can undress to your comfort level. I have completed massages for people who are completely clothed to fulled un-clothed; either way is fine with me as long as you are comfortable. I will explain that I will leave the massage room/area while you undress to wash my hands and that I will ask you if you are ready before returning. I will show you that you need to lay on the top of the fitted sheet but underneath the flat sheet and the blanket. Before leaving the room I will ask you if you have any questions.

During the Massage:

After entering the massage room/area the Massage Therapist will place a bolster, which is a round pillow, under your knees or ankles and ask if you are comfortable. You will always be covered by the top flat sheet and the blanket. The Massage Therapist will only uncover the part of the body that is being worked on to ensure that your modesty is respected at all times. Based on the service you selected and your needs, you will receive either a Full Body Massage or a Focused Massage. The Full Body Massage includes massaging the neck, back, arms, legs (from your toes up to your mid thigh), and your head/face and/or glutes if requested. The Focused Massage would be massaging specific promblem area(s) that was discussed upon arrival. We use high quality, non-scented massage creams and lotions for all massages.

Some people like to talk during their Massage while others prefer to relax without conversation. Do what feels best to you and I will follow your lead. I will however, ask you a few times during the session if you would like more or less pressure and this is done to ensure your comfort and satisfaction. As I work on areas with more tension you may find that it is more sensitive and you may experience some mild discomfort. Your feedback is during the massage is very important, please let me know if you would like more or less pressure as the massage progresses. The goal is to work with you to achieve maximum benefits from the massage while being sure not to cause any undue discomfort or pain. If at any time during the session you are uncomfortable please inform me immediately.

After the Massage:

When your Massage is complete, the Massage Therapist will advise you to take a few minutes to relax before you get up. The Massage Therapist will also suggest that when you do get up that you do so slowly in case you are dizzy. The Massage Therapist will tell you to let her know when you are dressed so that she may know when to enter back into the massage room/area. The Massage Therapist will ask you how you are feeling, discuss your findings for and make a recommendation for when you should schedule your next massage appointment. (next paragraph) The Therapist will then take off the massage linens and clean up the massage table while you have some time to get water and the payment ready. Payment is due prior to the Massage Therapist leaving. Make sure to continue to drink plenty of fluids throughout the rest of the day to re-hydrate your muscles and reduce potential soreness.
